Continuing Education

Learning is constant and lifelong. To continue your learning and professional development, we offer a range of affordable, accessible undergraduate and graduate credit and noncredit programs.

Summer School

Summer school is a four-session opportunity to study at one of the nation's best universities. If you usually have a busy schedule of work or academics but have some room in your summer, from tap dancing to statistics, summer school offers something for everyone. Just beginning your college experience? Summer school at Washington University offers a wealth of courses to help jumpstart your studies.

Summer Programs for High School Students

Through our challenging summer programs, you can meet degree requirements, explore interesting courses, or develop your skills. Special summer programs for high school students allow participants to try out college life, get a jump start on earning college credit or explore new fields of study. Smaller class sizes and a more focused study load allow for concentrated learning.

The University

The University of Missouri-St. Louis is a public metropolitan research university located in Missouri's most populous and economically important region. The Academics

UMSL offers 54 bachelor's degree programs, 37 master's degree programs, 15 doctoral degree programs, 24 graduate certificate programs, two education specialist programs, and the only professional optometry degree in Missouri. The Campus

The University of Missouri–St. Louis is situated on 350 rolling acres in north St. Louis County. Natural Bridge Road runs between North Campus and South Campus, which are both dotted with native Missouri trees and a mix of interesting architecture. – Take a Tour

More than 70 structures account for more than 3.5 million square feet of building space. Among those structures is the Blanche M Touhill Performing Arts Center. Designed by world-renowned architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, the center opened in 2003 and features two performance halls. – See the Touhill

The Community

From the swank Delmar Loop, full of great restaurants and theatre, to the nationally acclaimed Saint Louis Art Museum, to sporting events like Rams, Cardinals, or Blues games, St. Louis has a lot to offer, and UMSL is near it all. – See What the City Has to Offer

Metro, the region's public transportation system, operates two bus and rail stops at UMSL. Students receive an unlimited Metro pass, which can be used at any Metro stop in the city. Metro travels all over St. Louis, so even without a car, UMSL students can experience the city. – Plan to Ride the Metro

Campus is right near 70 and 170 in north St. Louis County, putting downtown St. Louis, the Saint Louis Galleria, and the Delmar Loop, all within a 15-minute drive. The 9.5-mile North County Bikeway connects UMSL with charming Ferguson, Mo., and the North County Recreation Complex.
